ACS support for EOC activation 02 January 2007 Print E-mail
Written by Hal Mueller N3YX

ACS provided support for the Seattle EOC Level II activation on January 2, 2007.  The EOC activated to support the city's response to the forecast winter storm and possible accompanying flooding.

Jim Doub was alerted by phone at 1315.  He sent a paging system alert asking members to come up on the W7SRZ Medical Services Team repeater at 1430.  This was the first operational use of the new paging system, which uses SMS and pagers to alert ACS members of an activation.

When the net was activated at 1430, Jim was at the EOC staffing the comm center.  Boone Barker KC7RK was net control, operating from his home station.  20 operators checked in.  Mark and Jim located volunteers to come in and staff the EOC comm center from 1600 until midnight.

At 1640, the Seattle EOC stood down.
