ACS POSITION DESCRIPTION Title ACS Message Intake Operator Reports To Post Radio Operator Job Summary Acts as the intake point for messages submitted for transmission to the EOC. Interfaces with the public, other agencies and the Post Radio Operator. Verifies that submitted messages are properly composed and keeps records of all submitted message activity. Duties and Responsibilities · Greet SDART messengers and others desiring to send messages to City EOC. · Review message information to insure it is consistent with guidelines and in proper message form format. · Edit the message if necessary to enhance readability, clarity of message and efficiency of transmission. · Add the appropriate ACS message information to the SDART form · If the messenger arrives with out a written form, provide a blank form for them to complete or if the situation requires it, complete the form for them by conducting a quick interview. · Maintain appropriate spatial separation between the intake area and the radio operator’s post to reduce noise and distraction. · Maintain a communications post log of all message intake activity. A separate log sheet will be used for the ARRL Radiogram. · Act in accordance with the ACS Standards of Professional Conduct at all times and perform other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities · Skill to use a personal computer and various software packages. · Willingness and ability to work with the public under stressful circumstances. · Ability to creatively solve problems within the overall goals and practices of ACS. · Willingness and ability to work in ambiguous and quickly changing situations. Training, Licensing and Registration · Achieve ACS Level training within 1 year of appointment. · This position requires the following FCC amateur radio license: · This position require a Seattle PD background check · This position require registration with the State Department of Emergency Services.
